Leupold Yosemite 6×30 Binoculars vs. Bushnell PowerView 10×50 for Hunting in Timber

June 12th, 2010 -- Posted in binoculars | 6 Comments »

This isnt really a review of the Leupold Yosemite binoculars and the Bushnell Powerview Binoculars. You can view both of them at the following links,

Leupold Yosemite 6×30 – http://bit.ly/c5pFQP

Bushnell PowerView 10×50 – http://bit.ly/98Tzgu (this is the new version of the ones in the video)

The binocular strap I mentioned from SOE Tactical Gear can be viewed here – http://bit.ly/9pIpcw

This is more about how to choose a pair of binoculars for the right application. Generally for hunting applications I prefer a mid sized pair over full sized binoculars. I definitely do not like compact binoculars, to me mid sized give you the right balance.

I also prefer binoculars in the 6-8X range for use in cover and timber. When hunting on open terrain I would opt for binoculars in the range of 10-14X.

For those who prefer the traditional style of a porro prism bino, this Legend lineup is a crowd pleaser. Like the Legend roof prism models, Rainguard and premium BaK-4 prisms top the list of features to brag about ? delivering crisp, clear images in rain, snow and fog. The textured, grippy rubber-armored housing not only stands up to hard use but provides a firm grasp in wet conditions. Offered in three magnifications, from powerful, long-range 12 x 50s to compact, wide-angle performers.
Like Bushnell Legend roof prism models, Legend porro prism binoculars feature fully multi-coated optics, so every lens surface ? on the inside and out ? is specially treated to reduce light reflection and significantly increase brightness and image clarity. Bushnell’s wide-angle porro prisms are made from premium-quality BaK-4 glass, which delivers a significantly brighter and clearer image ? from edge to edge.

Like all Legend binoculars, this 10×50 porro prism binocular from Bushnell is built to withstand a variety of weather. This Bushnell binocular features the patented Rainguard protection that breaks water droplets into smaller beads and scatters less light, resulting in a clearer image. The 50mm objective lenses gather extra light and work well with the 10x magnification to deliver distant views.
